1. Spay or Neuter Your Pet.
Altered dogs and cats are less aggressive, more people oriented, less likely to contract certain diseases including uterine and prostrate cancer in dogs and feline leukemia and AIDS in cats, plus they are less likely to roam.
2. Confine Your Pet to the House During Thunderstorms, Firework Displays, Special Events with Noisy Crowds, or Other Loud Events Which Might Make Your Pet Nervous or Frightened.
3. Make Sure Your Pet-sitter has Information as to the Location and Phone Number of Your Nearest Animal Shelter, Your Veterinarian and Your Pets Veterinary Records.
4. Make Sure That Your Animal is Safely and Securely Confined to Your Property.
Many animals are lost due to improperly fenced yards.
5. Free roaming outdoor cats enter animal shelters at an alarming rate. Because of old perceptions concerning independence and predatory stalking, people have been slow to recognize that cats need and deserve protection, especially in light of our burgeoning communities. 6. Even with the best efforts, your pet may become lost. All animals should have current identification tags, be tattooed or micro-chipped. Plastic or metal tags can be purchased at pet centers for a lot less than the cost of an overnight stay at a shelter. Check our Event Calendar
